ekspeditioNORD, a Rostock - Guldborgsund exhibition
In the Interconnect project Rostock-Guldborgsund axis one of the aims was to support cooperation and interconnections between local governments and public administrations but also civil societies with specific focus on educational institutions and schools, culture and tourism organisations and business co-operations. The project did not fund the artists or the art products, but promoted events and supported establishing cross-border interconnections.
Between 13th and 26th of July, a joint Danish-German exhibition called "ekspeditioNORD" took place as part of the German-Danish year of cultural friendship in Marine Stationen in Gedser (DK). This 8th joint exhibition continued the work on the “cultural bridge over the Baltic Sea - Kulturbro over Østersøen” and was again realized in cooperation with P.ART - Free Culture Initiative. This year, in addition to long-term involved colleagues, artists were also invited who gave the exhibition new facets with their positions. Randi Samsonsren exhibited textile works, Sandra Schmedemann participated with porcelain objects. Nina Adelajde Olzczak gave a performance at the finissage. Despite the COVID-19 situation nearly 1000 people visited the exhibition this year.
We want to continue this expansion from the fine arts to object art and performance and develop this Danish-German exhibition series even more into a “showcase” of diverse artistic positions from Lolland Falster and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. We would like to direct the cultural-political focus to our art and culture cooperation in the eastern Baltic Sea area – say the organizers from city of Rostock.
The exhibition was granted with approx.. 2000 € from the Interconnect project.
